Reasons for Back Pain

back pain

Your back plays a vital role in your movement, whether that’s turning, walking, bending, or anything in between. Without a mobile spine and fully functioning back muscles and ligaments, every step we take is compromised. With such consistent pressure comes a heightened opportunity for injury.

Finding and repairing imbalances in the back will decrease back pain, restore mobility, and increase the body’s overall function. We will provide an exam that tells us exactly where your back pain is stemming and dedicate a unique plan to your full recovery.

We understand that an efficient remedy to your underlying causes will keep other areas of the body from incurring injury also. When one part of the body is harmed, often other areas pick up its slack; this compensation puts the body at further risk.

In some cases, back pain comes from an accident or sudden force, in other cases, it’s due to poor posture or muscle overuse. No matter the cause, chiropractic treatments are a safe, reliable way to find relief.

Some common reasons for back pain include:

  • Fractures
  • Disc herniations
  • Disc bulge
  • Pulled muscles
  • Back sprains and strains
  • Bruised tissue
  • Spine compression

When patients have ongoing back pain, it’s called chronic pain and can be due to more complicated problems, including;

  • Spinal tumors
  • Sciatica
  • Scoliosis
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Spondylolysis

It’s best to visit with a chiropractor at the first sign of discomfort to encourage a safe recovery before minor pains become bigger issues. Our team is dedicated to each patient and puts plans in place to keep surgery and medications out of their future.

Diagnosing Your Back Pain

During your first visit to Turquoise Trail Therapeutics, your doctor will perform a thorough examination in an effort to determine which structures are causing you pain. This diagnostic process is crucial to help formulate a treatment plan.

We will discuss the history of your injury and ask questions about your lifestyle habits and past experiences. A physical examination will be performed to assess the joint motion, muscle function, strength, and flexibility. Orthopedic and neurological testing will be completed, and special imaging such as x-ray or MRI may be ordered in an effort to be fully informed.

Most acute back pain conditions respond favorably to a trial round of conservative care consisting of treatment twice per week for 2-4 weeks. In the event that the condition does not respond favorably, we may change the treatment frequency or approach to care. We may also bring in experts in other fields to collaborate in an effort to help you reach your goals.

Dr. Casey is incredible!

I had been having debilitating back pain and numbness/tingling in my left leg for 5 weeks before I saw Dr. Casey. He was my last hope. I had seen other chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, and an assortment of other specialists. From the start Dr. Casey was different. He spent a full 40 minutes with me to make sure he understood the problems I was having. It was clear he cared and wanted to take a thoughtful and personalized approach to my treatment and care. His treatment plan is exactly what I needed, within four session my back pain and the numbness/tingling in my leg are gone. I highly recommend Dr. Casey, I won’t be going anywhere else.

Doc B has helped me regain the flexibility in my back! I had a bad mountain bike fall that involved some compressed disks, spinal bruising, and micro tears along the muscles that help keep the spine straight.

Doc B’s adjustments were crucial to getting me back on my bike.
